London, 13 February 2024

Viritech, the leading hydrogen powertrain solutions provider, today launches its Vehicle Control Solution for fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs). A flexible and full function vehicle control software system which is available in software only form or on hardware ready to integrate and includes Tri-Volt energy management. The solution allows for rapid build and deployment of fuel cell electric vehicles by providing a complete set of software blocks for the management and control of the vehicle and its sub systems.

The Vehicle Control System includes:

-        Tri-Volt™ Energy Management: Viritech’s patented energy management system, which forms a dedicated energy management component providing analysis, status and performance calculations to optimise energy deployment on vehicle.

-        Torque Control: Optimised for human/machine interaction to optimise feel and feedback when power is requested by the vehicle operator.

-        Fuel Cell Control: Enabling interface and integration of many on fuel cell controllers to the vehicle control system, supporting control of running modes, output/set point and general control strategy.

-        Cooling Control: Including discrete control and calibration of pump, fan, and DC motors to manage fuel cell cooling, battery cooling, general heat exchanger integration, with specific PID controls for FC Coolant system.

The Vehicle Control System is designed to allow OEMs, Tier-1s and those engaged in vehicle R&D to build and run fuel cell vehicles immediately, significantly reducing development time when integrating fuel cells with batteries and the e-machine/inverter on any type of vehicle. Whilst the launch variant is designed for prototype and development vehicles, Viritechs engineering services team can develop this base system into a production / homologated vehicle solution as required.

The launch of the Vehicle Control System continues Viritech’s program to deliver high performance, volume production compatible, enabling technologies for zero emission vehicles, providing a clear path from prototypes to production vehicle for OEMs and Tier-1s.
